Maria Becker

Maria has more than 15 years of experience in the health actuarial field. She provides consulting services to health insurance companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, managed care companies and other commercial insurers. She assists clients in the Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial markets, providing an array of consulting services, including:

• Product pricing and development
• Medical cost analysis
• Benchmarking
• Trend analysis
• Financial projections
• Provider contracting and capitation structures
• Provider risk-sharing arrangements
• Claim reserve estimates
• Financial modeling of impacts of healthcare reform under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Maria has extensive experience with the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement programs. She has assisted clients with Medicare Advantage feasibility analysis, bid preparation, and risk score analysis. She has advised an array of plans, including HMOs, PPOs, and dual-eligible and institutional SNPs. She has developed financial projections and provided support for product development of Medicare Supplement individual and group policies.

Maria has significant involvement in Medicare-related research for the firm and manages the development of the Milliman Ages 65 and Over Health Cost Guidelines. These guidelines are used both internally and externally for analysis and development of Medicare products.
