Darin Muse
Darin Muse is a principal and consulting actuary with Milliman's Health Practice. He is located in Austin, Texas, and joined the firm in 2013.
Experience
Darin’s areas of expertise include commercial health insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and provider consulting.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he worked as a pricing actuary at a large insurance carrier. There, he gained significant experience in commercial health product development and pricing, regulatory rate filings, and disease/case management programs, as well as in assessing the early impacts of health insurance reform. In 2010, he began consulting at a regional actuarial consulting firm, where he gained valuable experience outside the health insurance arena with life and annuity products, valuation, financial reporting, and acquisitions.
.At Milliman, Darin has played an integral role in developing and pricing health benefit exchange products and Medicare Advantage and Part D bids for submission to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He has also assisted provider clients with member attribution, risk-sharing settlements, and in determining equitable funds flow methodologies.
In 2018, Darin left Milliman and spent 18 months at a large Medicaid Managed Care Organization. During this time, he worked closely with clinical staff to build and assess models of care around acute conditions and chronic diseases and employed root-cause analysis techniques to isolate impactable drivers of medical and pharmacy claims trends.
