Mia Wafer
Mia Wafer is a Geographic Information System (GIS) analyst with Milliman’s San Francisco Property and Casualty Practice. She joined the firm in 2023.
Experience
Mia helps develop and manage the practice’s GIS databases and performs geospatial analyses to produce customized datasets to support rate making and climate resiliency planning.
Mia’s areas of expertise include:
- Geocoding applications for insurance
- Geospatial analyses utilizing hydrographic and elevation data sets for actuarial modeling
- Drive time and routing analysis for network adequacy studies
- Data visualization and cartography
Mia is interested on how climate-related risks are affected by climate change. She is especially interested in researching risks associated with wildfire and how community planning can increase wildfire mitigation. She has also helped lead projects analyzing community demographics, wildfire-related air quality effects on health, and future flood projections.
