Alvin is a seasoned actuarial professional with over 16 years of experience in the Taiwan insurance industry. Before joining Milliman, he played a pivotal role in Chubb / Cigna Taiwan’s actuarial team, where he demonstrated a proven track record in delivering positive results in his project-oriented works, in particular on IFRS 17 implementation and reinsurance system-related projects. In his key IFRS 17 projects, Alvin successfully identified data requirements for end-to-end IFRS 17 solutions, coordinated the design, development, and validation of ETL (a tool to extract, transform, and load the data) logic, and contributed to the development of IFRS 17-related functionality in Prophet. With respect to reinsurance system-related projects, Alvin collaborated effectively with other internal stakeholders to identify areas in the system that needed enhancement. He guided his team in drafting the calculation logic required in the program, thereby improving the system's flexibility and user-friendliness.
During his tenure with Chubb, his responsibilities also included the development and maintenance of Prophet liability models. He implemented the company’s newly launched products under the Prophet model and assisted in integrating multiple isolated workspaces with various reporting bases into a single, centralized model. Alvin also conducted experience studies for setting expense, persistency, and mortality/morbidity assumptions. This allowed for continuous monitoring, early warning, and product strategy development. These experiences further solidified his actuarial expertise and project management skills.
