Travis J. Grulkowski
Travis Grulkowski is a principal and consulting actuary with the Milwaukee office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1996.
Experience
Travis’s area of expertise is ratemaking and loss reserving analyses for property and casualty insurance. He has experience in many lines of insurance, with a special emphasis on long-tail commercial lines, including workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto liability.
CORPORATE ASSISTANCE
Travis has assisted numerous self-insured corporate clients, providing expertise in reserving and funding (including stochastic distributional analyses), loss retention analyses, collateral studies and allocation calculations.
In addition to more traditional analyses provided to corporate clients, recently Travis has assisted several clients in achieving balance sheet relief by providing transactional due diligence for clients’ legacy exposures, including lifetime workers’ compensation claims, asbestos, and federal black lung claims.
EXPERTISE IN HANDLING LATENT CLAIM EXPOSURES
Travis has significant experience evaluating latent claim exposures where the analysis includes non-traditional actuarial methodologies.
Exposures include asbestos, black lung, environmental hazards, chemical exposures, sexual misconduct claims, and other toxic tort claim liabilities.
In addition, Travis co-leads Milliman’s Black Lung Practice.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION AND PREDICTIVE MODELING
Travis is experienced in applying predictive analytics techniques to help lower clients’ overall workers’ compensation costs.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Travis has partnered with Milliman’s European offices to assist with asbestos, pollution, and health hazard (APH) analyses of United States exposures. Travis has also worked with United Kingdom exposures, Bermuda risks, and been involved in numerous due diligence assignments with Milliman’s overseas offices.
DUE DILIGENCE
Travis is experienced in providing actuarial appraisals for mergers and acquisitions, and leads a team of actuaries, analysts, and claim experts supporting runoff transactional work.
Travis has a growing network of sophisticated buyers in the runoff market consisting of insurance companies, private equity/ investment banks, and specialty acquirers.
