Christopher Murphy
Chris Murphy is a senior healthcare consultant with the New York office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2023.
Experience
Chris is an executive healthcare consultant with over 28 years of experience working with hospitals and health systems to navigate payment structure, value-based care, and the shifting industry climate.
Before joining Milliman, Chris was a principal consultant at a large healthcare improvement company where he was focused on business development, thought leadership, and overall client management within the value-based care arena. In that role, he assisted health systems in developing payer partnerships and setting up networks and unique plan designs. Chris is a strong negotiator and relationship builder, guiding executive teams through complex processes, securing favorable terms, cultivating strategic partnerships, and fusing disparate interests.
Prior to his most recent experience, Chris spent the first 15 years of his professional career in the behavioral health space, managing programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (residential and vocational), as a case worker for county and state programs, network management, provider relations (payer), and practice management for physicians (hospital). He then shifted into revenue cycle management, credentialing for a physician group of over 3,000 professionals (provider), building healthcare clearinghouse capabilities at a bank (vendor), and creating a bundled payment program for providers in an extremely competitive marketplace (payer).
