Analysing 2023 Solvency and Financial Condition Reports (SFCR) of non-life insurers in Europe and the UK

We analysed 795 solo companies that conduct primarily non-life business across 13 European Union (EU) member states, the United Kingdom, and Gibraltar and found gross written premium rose 6%. In this report, we discuss European market coverage, underlying data, and the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Using data from solvency and financial condition reports (SFCRs) for year-end 2023, we then present an analysis of the following:
- Capital coverage ratios
- SCR and minimum capital requirements
- Own funds
- Main balance sheet items
- Underwriting
