Alzheimer’s disease severity progression: Prevalent population estimates over time
This analysis used public and published research to estimate the number of people with Medicare coverage who have mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and track their progression to moderate or severe dementia over time. Patients who cannot access treatments while they are in the MCI or mild dementia stages of the disease may progress to a more severe form of dementia due to AD and miss the opportunity for treatment.
