Average annual beneficiary health care costs for various Medicare coverage options 2023
UnitedHealth Group recently commissioned Milliman to compare the beneficiary costs of the Medicare Advantage (MA) program relative to other public and private health insurance options available to Medicare-eligible seniors. We compared an integrated MA and prescription drug plan with traditional Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) and Medigap Plan G. This report is an update to our 2020 analysis of healthcare costs paid by seniors across various popular coverage options. The discussion’s major sections include the following:
- Executive summary and background
- Nationwide comparison of coverage value to Medicare beneficiaries
- State-level results
This report was commissioned by UnitedHealth Group (UHG).
