Joshua Winata is an associate with Milliman’s Singapore office. He joined the firm in October 2020.
Experience
Prior to Milliman, Joshua spent two years as an actuarial associate with the Life Insurance team at Ernst & Young (EY) Singapore. His professional experience includes:
- Performing year-end and half-year reporting, under Solvency II, processes for one of the largest life insurers in Singapore
- Generating results using clients’ internal models as well as various validation and analysis processes (e.g., movement analysis and standard formula)
- Pricing a Universal Life product, involving deterministic modelling and profit testing using stochastic projections under the Singapore RBC2 valuation basis
- Preparing Technical Accounting Papers and Business Requirement Documents as part of IFRS 17 implementation for a multinational life insurer in Singapore
- Assisting IFRS 17 Prophet modelling and modelling UAT
- Assisting with due diligence processes for corporate acquisitions, involving liability fair valuation processes
- Performing actuarial audits on statutory reserves and embedded values of multinational life insurers in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam
In addition, Joshua had multiple internship experiences prior to his graduation in EY Singapore, Tokio Marine Life Singapore (Pricing), and AXA Life Singapore (Finance). His experience includes producing a report on underinsurance in Singapore, revolving around estimations and projections of financial needs upon death.
