Alan Van Amber
Alan Van Amber is a senior pharmacy management consultant with the Mlwaukee office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2023.
Experience
Alan is a pharmacist with extensive expertise in pharmacy network management and pricing. He has over 40 years of experience in several pharmacy practice arenas and has worked for numerous pharmacy benefits management (PBM) organizations over the last 26 years. During the last 15 years, Alan had worked in senior management positions. He led the pharmacy network management group at a national PBM. Prior to working for PBMs, Alan spent several years at a major pharmacy drug chain and at independent pharmacy locations. Alan’s areas of expertise include retail, mail, and specialty pharmacy network management, PBM pricing, MAC management, provider contract compliance, and pharmacy provider relations. Additionally, Alan provided financial evaluations of pharmacy network pricing in support of clients and prospective clients of PBMs. Alan is experienced in the analysis and interpretation of pharmacy payer contracts and reimbursements. Alan’s work with pharmacy providers has focused on assisting clients in evaluating the economic value of PBM proposals and contracts. He assists clients in developing short- and long-term strategies to improve their economic and market positions. Alan is a strong advocate for price transparency within the pharmacy channels.
