This report presents the findings of an analysis focused on isolating and estimating the potential financial impact of COVID-19 on hospital indemnity (HI) plans in the United States. The focus is on the working-age population because supplemental HI plans are generally marketed to those of working age. The paper also discusses the claim cost impact for two pandemic scenarios across four HI plans.
